UGC Programming: Event Attendance Requirements – Fall 2014
Fall Commons Day (ALL)
ALL First-year students are required to attend a Commons Day event, which will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Undergraduate Colleges will host FYR author, Mireya Major. Students will attend a Commons Day event in lieu of class during this week.
Arts, Culture, and Humanities (ACH)
ACH requires all students to attend TWO (2) ACH "For Credit" events. ACH events will allow students to explore the themes mentioned in our ACH 101 Project. A full listing of events which will satisfy this requirement will be listed online: ucolleges.stonybrook.edu/ach/events.
Global Studies (GLS)
GLS requires all students to attend at least one “Academic” GLS Program, AND participate in at least one “Social” GLS event, AND attend Fall Commons Day. A listing of approved programs will be posted online: ucolleges.stonybrook.edu/gls/events.
Human Development (HDV)
HDV requires all students to attend at least one HDV Academic Event, and one HDV Social Event. A list of acceptable events will be posted online: ucolleges.stonybrook.edu/hdv/events
Information and Technology Studies (ITS)
ITS requires all students to attend a Commons Day event on Wednesday, October 22. Students must also attend the ITS Video Project Expo on Wednesday December 3rd, ITS Program designated as an “Educational Program”, AND one ITS program designated as a “Social Program”. Leadership and Service (LDS)
LDS students must attend at least two (2) LDS-sponsored events during the fall semester. Students are encouraged to attend any and all events that appeal to their personal interest whenever possible. A schedule of LDS-sponsored events will be posted online: ucolleges.stonybrook.edu/lds/events.
Science and Society (SSO)
SSO students must attend at least one “SSO Hot Topic” program and at least one “Social Program” in the Fall semester. A list of acceptable events will be posted on the SSO website: ucolleges.stonybrook.edu/sso/events.
University Scholars (SCH)
University Scholars students must attend two (2) “for-credit” Scholars events. A schedule of these events will be listed online: uaa.stonybrook.edu/university-scholars/events.
Please remind students to bring their ID cards. Attendance will be recorded at approved events.
