Hello guys, my name are Ramatu Abubakar, and I am a biology major, pre-med track. I am currently a sophomore and a member of the African Student Union. I am a very quiet, shy person and the youngest in my family. I like to sing, read and travel. My favorite book is “The fallen series” by Lauren Kate and my favorite places in the world are Disney Land and Niagara Falls. As an SSO fellow, I am looking forward to the excitement and growth of my undergraduate years through more active involvement and learning. I am really excited about being a TA and having the opportunity to meet all the incoming students. Have a wonderful first year at Stony Brook!

Hey everyone! My name is Henningston Bernard. I'm a biology major here at SBU. I'm from Queens, New York. When not studying or in class, my hobbies consist of working out at the gym and playing basketball with friends. I am a die-hard New York Knicks fan; I watch every game and sometimes even wear my Amare Stoudemire jersey. My aspirations for the future include graduating from Stony Brook, then medical school to become a doctor. At this point, my hope is to become an anesthesiologist, but anything can change in the next four years. All that is certain for me is that I want to use the knowledge and skills I attain from my higher education to help others, and being a Fellow has helped me take that first step.

An EOP student, I was born in Venezuela and at 6 moved to Yonkers. I enjoy swimming and volleyball. I participate in the volleyball club on campus and work for Residential Safety Program (RSP). Tungjatjeta, nǐ hǎo, Namaste, Hello everyone! My name is Alexandrea Budhram, and I am a Health Science Major on the pre-med track. I am from Queens, NY and I love learning about different cultures even though I am only fluent in English. I love reading, sitting next to the pond, listening to music and dancing around my room. I am a currently student body members of the Culinary Club and Asian Student Alliance. What I love most about Stony Brook is that we are all different, but we can all come together as Seawolves. My advice for new students would be to get involved, have a social life, but not to forget that school is still a priority.

Hey everyone! I’m Lu Lu Fang and I am one of your SSO fellows! I am from Queens but I was a country girl before I moved to New York City. I am a huge nature-lover and I have a passion for stars! I am currently double majoring in Asian American Studies and Art History. My ultimate goal is to enroll in the field of dental medicine and hopefully become a successful oral surgeon. I adore SSO very much because Roth is beautiful all year round especially during the spring term. The location is also very convenient since it’s so close to the academic mall. It is a privilege to be a part of the undergraduate quad of Science and Society, and I hope you will find your best experience here as well. I will be here to guide you to your first look of what Stony Brook has to offer as well as our goals here in SSO. Hello Everyone!!!!!! My name is Aleksandra Grabos, but everyone calls me Aleks. I am Polish, and although I was born in Queens, NY, I went to Polish school for eight years every Saturday morning. I am a biology major on the pre-med track set on becoming a pediatrician, but more so, I am an SSO Fellow. I love Stony Brook so much, and although I never planned on going to a college away from my parents, this decision was definitely one of the best ones that I have ever made because it not only taught me independence, but showed me that I could do things on my very own and excel in a new environment. I can’t wait to mentor all of you Seawolves next semester and show you just how much you’ll fall in love with SBU!!!!!

My name is Noah Kim, and I'm an SSO Fellow! My major is Respiratory Care, and I am a part of Stony Brook's Red Cross Club and Kumdo Club. I love Stony Brook, and if I get to be your Fellow, I would like to show you how awesome Stony is. My hobbies include playing video games, lifting weights, singing, and playing my guitar. I am also an Orientation Leader so you might have seen me during your Orientation Day! Joining the Fellows organization had been my very first step towards being a student leader here on campus. Ever since I tested the waters of leadership opportunities here on campus, my leadership roles have snowballed. Now I am the Blood Drive Coordinator for my Red Cross Club, Secretary of the SBU Kumdo club, and I am hungry for more! My name is Shanwaj (Roy) Khair. I am going to be your SSO fellow and a teaching assistant for your SSO 101 class. I am a Pharmacology major. I aspire to become a medical scientist. I love doing research. I have done research in high school and will be doing research in the summer 2013 through the Stony Brook University’s URECA program. Feel free to ask me any questions about how to get involved in research. I am also into academics. I understand first year in college can be difficult with handling very hard courses. I am here to help you navigate those classes. I enjoy reading, travelling, and spending time with my friends and families. I like getting involved in the community. I have been running a fashion blog (combining my love for technology and fashion) for over 3 years. I love to stay in shape by either running, yoga, or spinning. Hello! My name is Jenny Nussbaum. I am a Bio major and a Japanese minor. I am a local of Suffolk County, but I live as a resident here on Stony Brook campus. I have been interested in Japanese culture for several years, and I hope within the next year or two, I will be able to study abroad for a semester in Japan through Stony Brook. I am also a part of the Spirit of Stony Brook marching band; so not only do I enjoy playing music, I love listening to it too! I love attending our school’s sports events. Football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball; you name it and I would be more than happy to sit and cheer for our beloved Seawolves. I moved around a lot so I ended up graduating high school at East Hampton, NY. I love video games, puzzles, and music. I play League of Legends, speed cube, and I love playing the guitar. I listen to most genres of music, but I prefer rock/post-hardcore. My favorite bands are Of Mice and Men, A Day to Remember, Sleeping with Sirens, Dance Gavin Dance, and Fall Out Boy.
