Originally from San Diego, CA, Candace is a New York State certified teacher with a strong passion for learning as well as teaching. She attended SUNY Cortland for her undergraduate degree where she worked as an RA for three years. Candace’s most rewarding experience during her undergraduate career was studying abroad in London, England.  There, she taught 5th and 6th grade while taking classes at University of North London. She graduated in three years with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in English.

Candace taught 9th grade Inclusion for one year, before teaching K-6th grade Multi-Sensory Reading Instruction for 4 years. She earned her M.A. in Integrated Education through the School of Professional Development at Stony Brook University.  Candace believes that the first year of college is a unique and important time in one's life and she is personally and professionally deditcated to helping make the first year at Stony Brook an exciting and educational experience for all students.
