The First-Year Seminar 101 courses are crucial to the Stony Brook first-year student experience. They are intended to integrate students into their Undergraduate College and into the University community by providing information about Stony Brook and a forum for discussion of values, intellectual and social development, and personal as well as institutional expectations. We hope these courses will achieve the following goals:
- To develop and strengthen academic skills
- To discover and connect with Stony Brook University
- To explore the academic theme of your Undergraduate College
- To become civil and responsible members of our academic community
In these pages you will find sample syllabi, curriculum information, teaching resources, and much more information that will assist you in planning for your 101 section. Also, remember this website is a resource for all 101 instructors. If you have successful lesson plans or information that you feel would be useful for all 101 instructors, please send your comments and files to firstname.lastname@example.org. We are always looking to improve our resources.
